Transition and mountain regions

This post-doctorate aims to document transitions in mountain territories. More specifically, the aim is to clarify the concepts and theoretical frameworks used in the study of transitions and transformations, to question the posture of researchers in the accompaniment of transitions, and to understand the possible specificity of mountains in these processes.

Initially, this post-doctorate aims to grasp the diversity of conceptual frameworks and analytical approaches applied to transitions and transformations, and to understand how Labex ITTEM projects are positioned within these frameworks. It also aims to propose a conceptual framework for the socio-spatial analysis of transformation dynamics by adopting the French-speaking territorial field.

We will then look at how we can work with non-academic partners to support transitions in mountain areas, and analyze the potential role of mountains as demonstrators in the dynamics of transitions.

To meet these objectives, this research calls on several methods: literature review, exchange seminars between Labex ITTEM researchers, participative workshops with non-academic partners, as well as with researchers from various Alpine institutions, and the organization of conferences with researchers specializing in transition issues and researcher/actor collaborations in the field.
