The “Etats généraux de la transition du tourisme en montagne” begin tomorrow

Thursday September 23 will see the start of the Etats généraux de la transition du tourisme en montagne, a two-day event designed to bring together all mountain ecosystem players to collectively design a “mountain to live in”, against the backdrop of the climate, ecology, health and economic crises. The event, part of the French presidency of the European Union’s Strategy for the Alpine Region (Suera/Eusalp), was officially launched on March 16 at the Jura resort of Métabief.

On September 23 and 24, in a hybrid format combining face-to-face and distance learning, a number of events will be offered to the general public: conferences, themed workshops and a village of initiatives. At the same time, regional workshops will be held in some thirty areas of the Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central and Jura, bringing together a wide range of players.

Labex ITTEM, a partner of the event and a member of the scientific and organizing committees, will be present throughout the event, notably during the thematic workshops on September 23 (afternoon), with Philippe Bourdeau, who will be talking about the “transition of skills and professions”, and Raphaël Lachello on the theme “Consumption or resonance: the place of nature in tomorrow’s mountain tourism”.

Researchers from Labex ITTEM will also be taking part in the territorial workshop on Thursday afternoon in Grenoble, focusing on the following themes: over-frequentation of natural areas; education in good practices and behavior change; tourist mobility; resort diversification.

On Friday September 24, the Alpes-là association will be presenting the concept of Alpine Ecotraversées, actively supported by Labex ITTEM and most recently held in the Ecrins massif, at the village of initiatives.
