TRANSITION – An anthropological raid in the Queyras: the documentary
Putting the social sciences into dialogue with a territory via a ski raid to think about transitions in the mountains: that’s what this groundbreaking documentary film is all about. 5 days of adventure in the Queyras to share the results of several research projects conducted in recent years in this high alpine massif.
Film summary
Mountain guide Yann accompanies a group of clients on an original ski tour of the Queyras. Together with Mikaël, a social scientist and keen surveyor of the massif, they set up daily encounters with its inhabitants to discuss their way of life, their doubts and their dreams. Between wild immersion and passionate exchange, this raid explores the links forged between agriculture, a pioneering economic activity, and tourism, an outsider that quickly became hegemonic. A complex and tumultuous relationship, between competition and complementarity. It’s a relationship that’s more relevant than ever at a time when the future of mountain regions is being examined in the light of the effects of climate change.
