Proterr2a – Observations of the relationship between Earth, Territory and Stars

The Proterr2a project – Projet d’observations des relations Terre – Territoire – Astres – explores the feasibility and conditions for the emergence of a collaborative observation system designed to enhance the heritage value of Earth-Territory-Astronomy relations in the Haute-Provence Geopark area.

As part of its science-society interface activities, the Géoparc de Haute-Provence – in partnership with a multi-disciplinary scientific team and through the Proterr2a project – has launched an exploratory study into the implementation of a territorial development project aimed at linking the observation of remarkable geological objects in the area (pentacrines, ammonite slab, geological layers and structures…), the in situ observation of stars visible from the area and similar dating, and the cultural promotion of these resources.), in situ observation of stars visible from the area and similar dating, and cultural promotion of these resources.

Through collaborative observation, this reflection proposes a scientific, institutional and socio-cultural mobilization around a “geo-astro heritage”, questioning the place of humans in the universe and the inscription of humans in the long term. This project, involving scientific, socio-professional and student players, explores the forms of representation, mediation and heritage enhancement likely to reflect the relationship between earth, territory and stars, or between earth-man-universe. For the Haute-Provence Geopark, this strong idea of links, of temporal homology and of matching geological, territorial and astral entities opens up new perspectives for enriching its partnership-based sustainable development project.

This project is the result of a joint call for projects by the Zone Atelier Alpes (ZAA) and Labex ITTEM, aimed at encouraging inter- and trans-disciplinary research by bringing together researchers in the life and/or earth sciences and those in the humanities and social sciences.
