Écouvent – Écoutes citoyennes du Vercors en transition

2024-...

Écouvent is a research-action project designed to support the “Vercors Citoyens” association in its efforts to listen to and understand the expectations and visions of local residents in the face of the challenges of socio-ecological transition.

The aim of the Écouvent project is to take an interest in citizen initiatives developing in the Vercors region (Quatre Montagnes, Vercors Central and Royans), in a research-action posture in conjunction with the “Vercors Citoyens” association.

In a context marked by growing opposition to major tourism development projects, particularly in Villard-de-Lans and Corrençon-en-Vercors, the association aims to go beyond mobilizing against these projects and promote alternatives to “all-tourism” in a perspective of socio-ecological transition. While these ideas are difficult to share widely at local level, the hypothesis put forward is that by listening to local residents, these committed citizens can generate new knowledge and participate in the collective construction of a transition project.

To this end, the research team is assisting the association in the deployment of a “citizen listening” program in various sectors of the massif. The central question will be how people will live, work and live together in the Vercors in 2024, in a context of transition.

This project is an extension of the Transformont project, whose research team has been working since 2019 to identify social innovations in mountain territories and question their ability to transform their dynamics.
