Comhunenvi – Communication and human-environment interactions

15

The Comhunenvi project – Communication territoriale et interactions humains-environnement dans les espaces alpins de proximité – is part of a joint call for projects launched by Labex ITTEM, Zone Atelier Alpes and the Fédération Free-Alpes to promote a more integrated approach to mountain socio-ecosystems, by encouraging inter- and trans-disciplinary research between life and/or earth sciences and the humanities and social sciences.

The aim of this project is to gain a better understanding of how communication can enable territories to manage human-environment interactions in local Alpine natural areas. This implies understanding the representations and uses of mountains, and more specifically the relationship between humans and mountain territories. It also means integrating different levels of scientific knowledge and information on species ecology and animal behavior in the face of human presence.

This program will focus in particular on the study of mountain areas where the development of physical recreational activities is strong, and where the proximity of urban areas generates an influx of people and practices that need to be questioned. Territorial dynamics, the interplay of players and the interplay of scales will be taken into account.

The resorts of the Massif des Bauges, Savoie Grand Revard and Aillons-Margériaz, located on the outskirts of the Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry conurbations, will be studied not only as ski areas, but also as areas of diversified practice undergoing major changes.
