Comenterr – Communication Environnement Territoires

Historically oriented towards the mountains and thermal baths, the Grand Lac agglomeration is now turned towards the Lac du Bourget and integrated into the Savoie Metropolis. As part of a public communications project, students in the Master’s program in Information – Public and Media Communications at Grenoble Alpes University are asked to identify the issues involved.

With a history based on thermalism and links with the Revard resort, the Grand Lac region has recently shifted the focus of its communications from the mountains to the lake. From the name of the agglomeration and that of its tourist office (Aix-les-Bains Riviera des Alpes) to its application to become a UNESCO biosphere reserve (MAB – Man & Biosphere program), the region has a very different identity from that of its neighbors at the gateway to the Bauges massif.

Against this backdrop, this study project in public communications involves the students’ hands-on discovery of the field. During this immersion, they meet with various players who explain the issues at stake, the complexity of multi-stakeholder cooperation in their respective areas, and their specific communications problems.

The students were then placed in a situation where they had to respond to a real order from players in the public sphere (city of Aix-les-Bains and Grand Lac agglomeration, Savoie Metropolis, Aix-les-Bains Riviera des Alpes agency), requiring the implementation of information and communication strategies and actions. Following the students’ participation in a Métropole de Savoie steering committee meeting on the implementation of the ZAN law (Zéro Artificialisation Nette – Zero Net Artificialization), the order focuses on communication on this theme within Métropole de Savoie.
