Mountains and words

Labex ITTEM researchers have been very busy over the past few months, with the publication of five books on different aspects of the mountains.

On the practitioners’ side, Dominique Kreziak, Véronique Reynier, Philippe Bourdeau and Jean-François Joye have coordinated the book Le ski de randonnée brouille les pistes in the Sportnature.org collection published by Éditions du Fournel, offering an interdisciplinary look at a topical subject by researchers and experts(find out more).

On a more institutional side, sociologist Gaëlle Ronsin has published Sociologie des conseils scientifiques – Un millefeuille scientifique pour protéger la nature, based on a thesis defended in June 2018. The survey, based on three park and nature reserve councils in the Alps (Ecrins, Vercors and Haute-Savoie), offers an immersion ” within the bureaucratic and professional world of nature management “. The book is published by Peter Lang.

Finally, three books have recently been published by Presses universitaires de Grenoble in the Montagne et Innovation collection directed by Marie-Christine Fourny – Labex ITTEM’s scientific coordinator from 2014 to 2019 – including S’installer et vivre dans les hautes vallées alpines. Trajectoires de vie, attractivité et capacité d’adaptation des territoires, by Anne Barrioz. The other two books were published in collaboration with UGA Éditions: Les Alpes productives. Renouveler l’industrie alpine pour repenser le futur du massif, edited by Roberto Sega and Manfred Perlik, and La montagne récréative. Une transition en chemin, by Jean Corneloup. The Montagne et Innovation collection aims to ” contribute to a plural reading of the factors of change and innovation, of the dynamics of ecological transitions, in order to build the mountain territories of tomorrow “.
