Launched in July 2021 and supported by the Savoie Mont Blanc University Foundation, the Sustainable Tourism Chair presents its findings in the form of a white paper.

Led by Dominique Kreziak, a professor at Savoie Mont Blanc University, the Sustainable Tourism Chair has, over the past five years, brought together a team of faculty researchers at the Institute for Research in Management and Economics (Irege), as well as numerous public and private socioeconomic stakeholders in mountain regions: local governments, businesses, and associations.

The chair’s objective was to analyze how mountain tourism regions integrate sustainability into their development models, in the context of global warming and the increasing scarcity of snow. A total of twelve faculty members, researchers, and doctoral students in management sciences contributed to the project through observations, interviews, analyses, and theoretical contributions.

Today marks the release of the white paper *Mountain Regions: Dare to Take the Leap Toward Transition*, a summary of these five years of work, focusing on three major challenges: the evolution of regional economic models, the emergence of new uses, and the structuring of transition dynamics at the regional level. It was designed as a tool for disseminating the results, intended for tourism professionals and students. Malou Allagnat, an illustrator specializing in science communication and a Ph.D. in social geography, has illustrated each article to capture its key points.
