On the road to the 3rd Mountain Research School

Offered by Labex ITTEM and OSUG, the Mountain Research School is a place for doctoral training in interdisciplinarity between human and social sciences and earth and environmental sciences in mountain regions. Registration for this 3rd edition is now open.

Organized in the form of a tour of the upper Romanche from June 25 to 30, 2023, this initiative combines research, development and training around themes common to both Labexes: territorial trajectories in the face of environmental, social and economic risks & methods for observing coupled Earth/Ecosystem/Society dynamics.

Doctoral students observe, experiment and exchange ideas in situ with researchers and local players, the Jardin du Lautaret being the arrival point for this itinerant training program.

The theme chosen for this year’s event is Parcourir la montagne: flux, trajectoires, interactions. The 2023 edition will be associated with a performance of the play Mort d’une montagne (Death of a Mountain ) by the Compagnie des Non-Alignés, at the end of which the doctoral students will be asked to organize a debate with the actors and the audience. This experience will enable them to share their expertise on the future of mountain regions.

This training offer is aimed primarily at PhD students from Labex ITTEM and OSUG partner laboratories, but is open to all PhD students whose research topic has a direct link with the mountains. Labex covers the costs of supervision, accommodation and meals, with the exception of transport to Grenoble (departure by bus from Grenoble).

With a view to collaborative research, the Mountain Research School is helping to build the Lautaret-Oisans Long Term Socio-Ecosystem Research (LTSER) platform within the European eLTER project.

Pre-registration is open until June 1, 2023 on the Labex Osug website.
