Four years of research ahead

As Labex ITTEM 2020-2024 draws to a close, a writing residency for the researchers whose projects it has supported is being organized from June 26 to 28, 2024 at Col de Marcieu in the Chartreuse massif.

Over the past four years, Labex ITTEM – Innovations et transitions territoriales en montagne – has provided financial support for over 70 research projects, doctorates and post-doctorates carried out by human and social science laboratories at Grenoble Alpes and Savoie Mont Blanc Universities, and by Inrae.

Each of these projects sheds light, from its own discipline, on the issues currently shaking mountain territories and the trajectories to be imagined: social innovations, tourism, public policies, energy transitions, alpine practices, migrations, cohabitation of uses, access to the mountains, impact of major events, protected areas, water resources…

Numerous projects are at the crossroads of different disciplines, fostering collaboration between researchers and enabling contemporary mountain issues to be approached from a more global perspective.

At the end of these four years of research, the writing residency now offered by Labex ITTEM gives researchers the opportunity to take a step back from their scientific work, discuss their results and immerse themselves in an environment conducive to individual or collective writing. It is also an opportunity to take a broader look at the cross-cutting issues and scope of Labex ITTEM’s work at the end of the 2020-2024 period, in the light of a renewed project.
