Are you curious about the mountains? Follow the guide!

On October 19, UGA Éditions published the book La montagne en question(s), enjeux et controverses à partir des Alpes, featuring contributions from numerous Labex ITTEM researchers.

To offer an offbeat, jargon-free look at the current issues facing mountain regions, using words such as adaptation, urban, games, etc., as gateways? Malek Bouhaouala, Marie-Christine Fourny and Stéphane Gal, three Grenoble-based lecturers and researchers in the social sciences, have taken up this challenge and edited the book, recently published by UGA Éditions in the Carrefour des idées collection.

In this book, we seek to uncover mountains in all their originality and diversity, and to highlight debates and controversies (…) It’s up to each of us to choose our own path to questioning mountains.

Have mountains compromised with capitalism? City and mountain, je t’aime moi non plus? Do we still have fun in the mountains? The Alps: a top model?

23 words and 23 questions that examine the future of mountain territories from original angles, combining critical perspectives, topicality and scientific quality, and accessible writing not devoid of humor,” warns the university publisher.
